Frequently Asked Questions

We created this tool to help Midwest artists and arts organizationsfind funding without endless searching. It’s also a place to submit funding opportunities that support artists, culture bearers, and arts organizations across the Midwest.

Please allow 3 to 5 business days for grants submitted via the form to appear on our website.

Midwesterners working in and alongside the arts, including artists, curators, culture bearers, funders, arts organizations and nonprofits. If your funding opportunity can support arts and culture in the Midwest, it likely belongs here.

Grant and award opportunities with funding attached. This is not the place for:

  • Open calls without funding.
  • Opportunities that don’t include pay.

If a Midwesterner can apply, it belongs here.

Our home base is the nine states Arts Midwest serves: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

That being said, we welcome national opportunities, grants covering the broader Midwest census region (including Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri), and grants for Native Nations and communities that share geography with this region

When in doubt, please submit.

Yes. Submit each opportunity separately so we can review and post them individually.

Lightly, if needed. We may make small tweaks for clarity and consistency.

A few possibilities:

  • It’s still within our 3 to 5 business day review window.
  • It doesn’t include funding.
  • It falls outside our Midwest focus.

If you’re unsure, feel free to check in.
