Shakespeare in American Communities: Schools

About

Barter Theatre’s production of Macbeth will engage students in rural Appalachia in a conversation about authenticity and the ramifications of sacrificing oneself in the pursuit of power. Barter will offer 10 student matinees and 5 evening shows to over 1000 students from 14 schools in VA, TN, and NC. A study guide and live talkbacks will be offered, and an option of in-theatre or virtual workshops will encourage exploration of students’ own experiences as they relate to the play.
