Shakespeare in American Communities: Schools

FY2023

About

Indy Shakes will partner with artists to create a full hip hop production of Richard III for the Mainstage, which will inform cultivation of a Hip Hop Shakespeare workshop in schools, performed by an Indy Shakes Traveling Troupe consisting of 4-6 BIPOC artists/educators. The workshop will entail discussions on hip hop and Shakespearean origins, gamified language learning, and personal storytelling in iambic pentameter. Validated pre-post measures will evaluate impact on selfhood and engagement.
