QTG will produce THE TEMPEST, with 5 matinees for 675 students from 9 middle/high schools in NW Philadelphia in Spring 2023. Our version will explore questions of the patriarchy, colonialism, and the supernatural, and utilize clear verse speaking, modern-dress, bare staging, and theatrical illusion to illuminate Shakespeare’s poetry and themes for students. All students will partake in post-show talkbacks. 19 classrooms will receive 4 in-school workshops, and 1 school a semester-long residency.
