The Dance Presenting Series seeks to present celebrated rhythm tap dancer Jumaane Taylor in our Spring 2023 programming lineup. Taylor has an established history with the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago. In the Fall of 2020, Taylor previously engaged our students and members of Chicago’s dance community in a virtual tap dance residency and live streamed a work in progress showing of Ugly Flavors (then a work in progress), set to the sounds of Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come and Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. Based on the success of his virtual residency, we seek to bring Taylor back to hold in person residency activities and to perform in person the completed iteration of Ugly Flavors.
