FVRC

Stewart, OH

GIG Fund

FY2024

About

Rural Appalachian Ohio, home to FVRC, lacks access to the arts. FVRC seeks funding to host 2 free community concerts, each followed by a sound lab for the musicians to jam & collaborate with participants. The first concert will be in winter, performed by professional musicians from Appalachian Ohio like Weird Science, Sex Tide, Brain Drain, & DANA who practice contemporary musical styles such as modern primitive, avant-garage, electronic, & rock. The second concert, FVRC’s annual Honky Tonk Ball held in spring, will open with musicians from FVRC’s musician showcase, & headline Heart’s Gone South from Asheville, NC. FVRC’s musical lending library will be open during the sound labs so folks may explore instruments they may not otherwise have access to. A $2,000 budget for each event pays musicians, cover advertising, & admin expenses. Events will target rural communities & expand upon FVRC’s free/low cost community instrument instruction.
