Hearst Center for the Arts

Cedar Falls, IA

GIG Fund

FY2024

About

For this art exhibition, we offer the opportunity for all artists in Iowa to enter a “tiny” work of art for display in our main gallery, which is free and open to the public. The Hearst will be paying Iowan artists to conduct free workshops (in person & recorded for virtual viewing) to assist artists on methods to produce tiny artwork. These free workshops will also extend to our Cafe program partner organizations. Cafe=Creative Arts for Everyone is our outreach program targeted to teach art to populations typically unable to come to us due to affordability or limited mobility. At the opening reception for this project, the public will have opportunity to vote for a winning artwork. There will also be a juried judging of the art, consisting of area arts specialists, with a jury prize for a separate best in show. This fulfills our mission to open doors to the humanities and creative arts, celebrate Iowan artists, and provide unique and equitable art education opportunities.
