Lake Erie Ink’s (LEI) kids’ Comic Con is a three day event, featuring in person workshops, virtual panels with famous authors, virtual Q&A sessions, all hosted at our building in Cleveland Heights, which is ADA accessible. Funding from Arts Midwest would allow LEI to bring in over 20 local and nationally known comic creators to lead workshops. LEI will feature an art exhibition of the comic artists’ work, as well as an artist talk so students can learn more about the art they are seeing. In addition, Comic Con features Artist Alley, where comic artists can display and sell their work to participants.
LEI works hard to keep admission to the Comic Con low and offers scholarships to anyone who requests one. LEI partners with local libraries to offer space for youth to attend free virtual workshops as part of the Comic Con, which allows us to reach more youth and remove barriers of cost, transportation, and access to a computer from participation.
