  • Taller Comunidad La Goyco

    Taller Comunidad la Goyco will offer a shared intergenerational experience for living in our changing city of Santurce through activities inspired by The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Cultural programming, book discussions and creative workshops will focus on how Cisnero's narrative illuminates the stories of belonging in our neighborhood, between September, 20204 and June, 2025.

  • Spruce Peak Arts

    Through The Great Gatsby, we will explore the concept of the American Dream and how the influences of the 1920’s—including jazz music—still impact our lives today. In today’s world of ever-growing economic disparity, the book will allow us to reflect how wealth and the pursuit of happiness are interpreted in our Vermont community, which includes multi-generational families and new residents.

  • Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo

    Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo’s NEA Big Read project will center on the reading and discussion of Rudolfo Anaya’s novel entitled Bless Me, Ultima. Through the discussion of the novel and the different activities relating to it, we will reflect on the importance of the natural environment for the spiritual and physical wellbeing of our communities.

    Big Read Rapid City celebrates where we live through literature and art. Join us to read, connect, create, and explore together through Andrew Krivak's fable, "The Bear."

  • The Andrew Keegan Theatre Company

    Keegan Theatre will present an original adaptation of ROMEO AND JULIET inspired by DC students. Students from five DC high schools will work with Keegan Teaching Artists during in-school workshops to provide culturally relevant context from their own lived experiences to inspire a devised adaptation of ROMEO AND JULIET to be performed by professional actors for the students at Keegan Theatre.

    SDPB aims to expand arts coverage of their premier daily local news and culture program “In the Moment with Lori Walsh.” They plan to do this with impactful social media storytelling and in-depth conversations with artists. In this process, they seek to diversify their arts features to reflect the full range of artists and art in SD, with a focus on BIPOC and rural artists, and diverse art-forms.

    Buffalo's Fire

    Buffalo's Fire will produce feature articles and a companion podcast that highlight Native American dentalium artists and their work. The series will provide an overview of harvesting dentalium, share its trade route history, and highlight current practitioners in the Plains region.
