Sensory Friendly Saturdays at ArtHaus reaches an underserved population of artists who desire or need a low stimulation environment to create, without the overwhelm of music, bright lights, and a high stimulation level that naturally occur in groups in a lively, creative environment. With GIG funding to support Sensory Friendly Saturday classes, ArtHaus can pay a professional artist instructor, knowledgable in the needs of individuals with neurodivergence and sensory disabilities, and create and facilitate an intentionally low stimulation environment with these needs in mind. Sensory Friendly Saturdays leads with the intent to provide a low stimulation, in-person class environment through the use of low lights, no music, and a calm space for individuals to create who might not otherwise be able to do so. Through the use of low smell art supplies, low light options, soft music if able, and a space to take breaks, those with sensory processing needs will be set up for success to create.
