Fiesta Primavera, or Spring Fling, is an end-of-school celebration for our families and the neighborhood. Where students, parents, teachers, and neighbors all find something fun to do. With support from Arts Midwest, ChiMOP will present artists as performers and educators at the event as well as at regular ChiMOP programming including:
• Performances by Local artists. Currently under negotiation are James Sanders’ Conjunto, Mucca Pazza, Sones de Mexico, and Yendrys Cespedes. We will continue to seek other artists with ties to the community.
• These artists will also work directly with kids in attendance on projects; for instance Sones de Mexico offers programs about history and heritage;
• Collaborative music making such as Mucca Pazza’s exercises in creating community through improvisation. drum circle, instrument “try-ons” and composition games.
