Lanesboro Arts (LA) is a multidisciplinary nonprofit with a 45 year legacy of supporting artists and promoting the arts in rural communities. LA’s historic St. Mane Theatre hosts both professional and community-based arts programs and performances. The St. Mane Theatre and other regional performing arts venues are facing a challenge of an influx of artists interested in hosting public events, but an aging/declining population of qualified technicians to produce the shows. The Rural Production Training Program will hire experienced technical production artists to educate participants in a series of workshops on the different areas of production for performing arts venues. The training will take place at LA’s accessible venue, the St. Mane Theatre, but will provide participants skills they can use at any performance venue. Following the workshops, there will be a public performing arts capstone event where the program participants will showcase the skills learned as technicians.
