Artspace 304 was selected for a significant visual / narrative installation honoring the confluence of art and science during the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse. The installation is the brainchild of Antonio Martinez, an SIU -Carbondale art professor, and Bob Baer, an SIU Physics professor and consulting scientist. The installation will be in the Artspace 304 Gallery from January through April 2024. We are currently adding complementary programming to enhance the experience of those who visit the 4-month long installation. A high priority for that programming is a planned collaboration with Antigone Music Collective, a well-known, Cincinnati-based classical music group. Our tentative programming with Antigone includes hosting two workshops with youth groups, as well as one mast class session with Southern Illinois University music students; a private gallery event for open to members of area student orchestras and student musicians; a concert open to the general public.
