About

BA requests a $4,000 Arts Midwest GIG Fund grant to partner with Joshua X. Miller to produce a feature-length documentary, For My Brother: The Legacy of Joseph Beam, and host a public screening of the film and talk-back session in Chicago, IL. This film will be an adaptation of a short documentary Joshua has already produced, but will include interviews with more friends and colleagues of Joseph, talking about him as a writer, activist, and friend. In the process, we aim to bring our community closer to who Joseph was, how he impacted his community, and how his legacy continues to impact art, culture, and civil rights.
