About

District 65 has invited the Evanston Symphony Orchestra to provide a first-class artist and educator to bring music education classes to their low-income BIPOC preschool students in Head Start and Pre-K programs. Over the coming school year, this educator, who is an excellent Black musician, will once a month teach songs and musical language in each classroom as well as bringing instruments for the students to play. In addition, the same educator will hold early evening sessions for parents/guardians/grandparents and their children to come and sing together. At the end of the school year he will host an open free performance for friends, family, and the community. These classes will help students achieve state standards, develop them socially and emotionally, and show them the joy of music.
