Friends Of The Dawn Theater Of Hillsdale Michigan

Hillsdale, MI

GIG Fund

FY2024

About

The Friends of the Dawn are partnering with the Hillsdale County School of the Arts (HCSA), the local organization/school for young string players. HCSA was formed in part to provide music instruction to young students who would not otherwise be able to afford an instrument and lessons. The proposed Master Class furthers this mission. The concert will reach a mostly poor, rural population that is underserved in the arts. Many of the Dawn’s patrons have never been in a theater outside of Hillsdale County, and therefore have a very limited exposure to the arts. As the Friends and the City planned the rehabilitation of the theater, a top goal was to provide the general public with the opportunity to experience theater of all kinds. Our 100 year old theater is now completely accessible, even to the stage. We welcome students with disabilities to attend this free Masterclass along with patrons with disabilities to attend the evening concert and have access to every part of the theater.
