About

The Pocket Philharmonic is an innovative and holistic way of embedding classical music into the cultural framework of underserved communities. This is made possible by 1) offering performances for free 2) transporting our chamber ensemble directly to partner venues who work with underserved communitites 3) recording digital content at GH to reinforce audience connection to the music and performers before and after performances. Cliff Colnot has arranged many symphonic works for our chamber ensemble. The inaugural season will offer two programs. Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” will be presented at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and shelters and can be adapted to meet learning standards for children k-12. We will also present Brahms’s “Double Concerto for Violin and Cello” for adults facing mobility challenges and veterans. Supplementary content will allow audiences to engage deeply with the performers and music and create a sustained impact through additional performances and content.
