Mutual Dance Theatre will commission and support the performance of two works by local artists, Countess V. Winfrey and Stevie Lamblin. The project will include 4 ticketed performances for small audiences, 1 free performance open to the public, and 1 masterclass for all bodies (no experience necessary). The activities will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio from December 1-9, 2023. Winfrey is a Black artist, currently holding several roles in Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (one of the nation’s most prominent Black dance companies). Lamblin is a white, LGBTQAI+, and gender-nonconforming person whose work as a licensed therapist has informed their interests in choreography. The two artists will be provided with numerous resources to actualize their visions, including rehearsal space, encouragement for nontraditional staging, and the professional support of designers otherwise too costly for them to hire directly.
