The OhioDance (OD) Festival hires 50% guest artists, performers, and presenters from marginalized groups. OD reaches out to marginalized groups to participate. Individuals participating are Black, Indigenous, LatinX, Asian, and other segments of the global majority frequently underrepresented or marginalized in the dance or fine and performing arts spheres in Ohio. There are sessions on African, classical Indian, physically integrated, Salsa, Hip Hop, Folk and many other varied and marginalized dance forms. The guest artist Nick Pupillo, artistic director of Visceral Dance Chicago, will be joined by two company members. They will perform in the concert, provide a workshop for advanced/professional artists with an audition, and offer a session open to all. When selecting a guest artist OD ensures that they are in alignment with OD’s commitment to diversity. OD offers a film showing with ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus and Art Possible Ohio highlighting artists with disabilities.
