About

Artist Jeanne Bowman will present two free virtual presentations on the art of children’s book illustration. The first presentation will explore how an illustrator begins a project and will include a panel discussion with the author (Laura Beth Dean), book designer (Angela Corbo Gier), and editor (Nancy Koupal). The second presentation will feature time lapse video of Bowman’s computerized illustrations for her latest project, “Georgia Jipp: Blizzard Pilot,” the true story of a young woman whose brave flights in the midst of a South Dakota blizzard saved livestock and rural residents from starvation. Bowman will explain her illustration process from start to finish. The first presentation will be held in January 2024 under the auspices of our monthly program, “History Talks.” The second presentation will be held in late spring 2024 when Bowman has completed the book’s illustrations.
