The BLACK LIFE as subject MATTER exhibition showcases visual art illustrating the complex and nuanced beliefs, knowledge, and communication unique to black life. During the exhibition, the Museum will also host four public conversations framed by themes in Talking About Race, an online resource from the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The Community Conversation events will be moderated by Ryan Wynett, manager of Understanding Implicit Bias at the National Underground Railroad FreedomCenter, also a Smithsonian Affiliate located in Cincinnati, OH. The Conversations will feature artists from the exhibition and museum educators who are experienced with the Talking About Race resource.
