Lubeznik Center will provide two 4 hour workshops on-site. The Chicago Act Collective will lead a hands-on workshop, facilitating both writing and visual arts segments. The artists leading the workshop will be Hilesh Patel, Sarah Atlas, and William Estrada. The workshop will be free and open to the public and special invitations will go to African American churches on Michigan City’s westside that LCA has been engaging with over the last 3 years for neighborhood art pop-ups & public art making. This neighborhood has more than 31% of persons living in poverty. The second workshop will be led by artist-activist, Shannon Downey of Badass Cross Stitch. Shannon will lead four hours of craftivism embroidery sessions free and open to the public with special invitations to our local PFLAG and LGBTQ Pride groups. All the workshops will be open to folks of all ages and families will be encouraged to attend in our safe, welcoming space.
