During the weekend and day of the total eclipse, April 6,7 and 8, Perceptions will be hosting a variety of community arts events. Regional artists are invited to participate in an art exhibit is planned of celestial works for the month of April, while a plein air event will take place on the weekend. A street square dance, music, pottery glazing, and community mural making on polytab material will be made in the weeks leading up to the event and hung on the day of the eclipse.
While this is a very special event, only two weeks later the town hosts annual Sassafras Days in which Perceptions partners with the Jennings County Historical Society to create arts events such as creating pottery with which participants get to try their hand at pottery. Perceptions artists will lead the historical eclipse community mural and clay artist, Rachel Silverstein, Long Island, NY will lead glazing of bowls in celestial inspired design.
